If you’ve been to Ipoh before, you would have probably heard about the famous cave temples that can be found there. If you haven’t, I have a post about visiting these cave temples. However, the oldest and probably most well known of them all is Perak Cave Temple.

During my last trip to Penang, I also visited Ipoh. This sleepy small town is the state capital of Perak and used to be the tin mining capital of Malaysia. It’s glory days of tin mining are long over and although it’s frequently missed out by visitors to Malaysia, it’s starting to get more popular these days, as people are attracted by it’s low cost of living and good food. Named after William Cameron, a British surveyor in 1885, this hill resort is quite popular with visitors. At an average altitude of 1,500m above sea level, the air is cool and fresh and there are plenty of tea and flower plantations around for visitors to explore. The only way to get there is by road, and with the opening of the new highway from Ipoh, travelling time is now shorter and safer. Continue reading “Cameron Highlands”
