Well folks, its F1 week again in Singapore and our downtown roads have been turned into a street race circuit. You will find the race area looking every bit like a high security prison with the concrete barriers and high steel wire fences. But there are no hardcore prisoners in overalls here, just hardcore speed junkies from all over the world getting together for an adrenaline fueled weekend. After having been to two of the F1 races in 2010 and 2011, I’ve decided to watch it from home in the comfort of my sofa. For tonight’s race, Lewis Hamilton takes the pole and we will see if he can maintain his lead.
The Singapore F1 is the only night race and on a street circuit. With the special lights, the roads are lighted up bright as daylight. And for the past couple of years, the organisers have spiced up the event with concerts featuring world class performers. So it’s not only a street race but also a 3 day street party. This year we have Jennifer Lopez performing on race night.
Below are some photos from 2011’s race. Sebastian Vettel won that year under Team Red Bull and Hamilton finished fourth. I had bought myself the Walk-About ticket. This is the cheapest ticket and allows you to walk around the whole race track, but the grandstands are off limits to you. The more expensive options are the Grandstand tickets. You can buy tickets for 1 day or all 3 race days.
